What Patients Say
Patient Testimonials
“I was a patient here for years prior to my leaving. I had many eventful experiences and many uneventful ones. I am leaving a very honest review here. I left crying and smiling, idk if it's b/c of how nervous he made me later on that made the ones where I left crying worse. He is a good Dr he does listen and tries to help but some of what he said confused me, ie, came in 1 pill short and he cut me that mo - he had told me "it's ok as long as I let him know" well when it happened a couple months later (1-2 pills short) I came in I was honest with him and he told me "being honest is telling him before I did it not after.." there was a time I cut pills in half only taking the half when I felt like I needed it and he cut me for that b/c "he is the dr and he doesn't write for one half he writes for a whole pill" I told him I was sorry I didn't understand and told him I'd do anything he asks if he needs to know before hand I'd call before but when it happened it was over night or on the weekend but that I'd call, they wouldn't call me back or it would be days before I talked to them. I went to the ER ONE time during the 5 yrs I was a patient there and I was belittled for it b/c I have a panic disorder and I was having chest pains over 2 days "what made u think this time it would be different" (indicating it was panic). If you change your appt he will cut you (or change your meds altogether) I didn't do it often but I did a couple of times and both times at the end he either cut my mg or count. There were things he said that were contradictory, bad moods seemed to come out in his appts (again that couldve been me/my nerves), he yelled at me and slammed the door on me before, over asking about a lidocaine injection from another Dr (my daughter was in the room the day he did this). He did prescribe me fentanyl at the end of my treatment with him and I have young kids, I went to sleep, woke up, and my son was in the bed with me and it had peeled off. My son 11 at the time could be dead today - after the previous conversations I'd had with him about this medicine I felt like he wouldn't listen to me and/or change my prescription again so I left. The last prescription he gave me was never filled. That being said - he did help me, he filled out my pa's when I needed it, he did listen to me (most of the time), there were times he'd cut jokes and I didn't get it (again could be nerves), he however did seem kinder to the men than he did me or a couple other women I met in the office, but when I left I can honestly say that the drs I met afterward weren't great either, there have been times I thought maybe I'd be better off going back. I was never able to fully let down my guard with him, I never knew what I was going to walk into but there is some kindness in his heart or soul. if your nervous he will pick up on nerves and his mood will change if he senses it. Overall I'd say everyone's experience is similar in some ways but different in others, some mesh well with him, while others may not, especially someone who has nerves or has "white coat syndrome" Dr Gupta if u read this thank you for taking care of me over the years I do realize how much better I had it then.”

“After moving back to SC I had to find a primary care physician as well as pain management. I opted to have Dr Gupta be both . After being in the hospital for 7 days and having to reschedule my appt Dr Gupta then proceeded to not refill my prescriptions that I have been on for 10 plus years. I have a laundry list of different Diagnoses that Dr Gupta chose not to prescribe my medication's therefore throwing my entire health at risk . Today I'm the office instead of refilling my normal medications he offered to give me Fentanyl as opposed to hydrocodone I refused then he wanted to put me on Dilaudid what kind of Dr tries to put you on these medications? When I told him I was going to do this review he stormed out of the room saying if I gave him a bad review he would give me a bad review I asked if he was threatening me as he went into the office across the hall and he slammed the door. I would not recommend this Dr as he does not have a patients health history first and foremost. I have never in my 55 years been treated so badly by a physician. I will be filing a formal complaint with the SC Medical Board and I highly suggest that any other patients that have been treated this way by this so called Physician to do the same.”

“I was a new patient who was hesitant after reading the reviews about even going to my appointment and I'm happy I did!! The doctor was really nice he talked to me asked me questions to determine the best treatment for me!! I'm not sure what doctor you'll are referring to with some of these reviews but it's definitely NOT Dr Gupta!!! His staff was amazing also if I could give him 10 stars I absolutely would have!!!”

“Worst Dr I've ever had to see and the rudest one too he hates patients to ask him any questions he's always in a bad mood I went to him for 5 years and I one day I had to reschedule my appointment and when I go back to him he changed my medication I asked why he was doing it and all he said was because I'm the Dr very unprofessional I will not be going back to Dr Gupta and I hope nobody else has to ever see this Dr I will be calling the sc medical board and I hope every patient he has does the same”
